I'm immensely enjoying the game so far; it reminds me of Mask of the Betrayer. The graphical style and the nice conversation-style NPC interactions are highly reminiscent of MotB.

The lack of self healing and lack of armour on the HoX has not really been an obstacle to me, so far - I just pull enemies and then kill them too fast for them to kill me. I'm not bothered by solo gameplayer, either - the game's PvE areas seem well suited to it and I find it fun. I love the ability to solo, though I'm eager to try some AoC PvP once I've gotten more practice with the game.

I'll need to see if it stays fun.

I hate change, and this is a biggggg change. I'll adept, I'll jut continue to whine in the process

The installation was my fault. I put the retail key in the wrong place, hence the updater thought I was new to the game instead of having been playing. I stopped the d/l and started to install from CD.

Alright guys, I have two words for you.

Mounted Combat!

Had a guy ride by me with his horse. He was killing things with his bow as he was riding through the area. I also saw a guy charge another creature with his Rhino and killed it as he trampled the thing under foot. They were doing this on Tortage in the Pict area. Looked like they were showing off their new steeds for people or practicing.

Level 19, Cimmarian Guardian. Almost off the Island I'm on my last destiny quest there.

BTW I found out you can leave the island and come back to finish up quests obviously.

Was Guild Wars your first RPG? Pretty interesting, if so. Generally, having "everything at your fingertips" is a much more traditional route in RPGs. It's *usually* balanced out, however, via. mana, cooldowns, or only being able to use the spell a certain number of times. If it's not balanced, then think Ursan: it gets boring.

In regards to you being disappointed: ouch, I know the feeling and it sucks. Thing is, the end-game will be entirely different than the leveling game...but I don't think that's much of a comfort since you *have* to level to experience it.

I'm giving my opinions on these matters on the fact that I've played WoW for quite a very long time now, and having leveled multiple characters both on PvE and PvP servers, and these are just standard MMO facets.

The dialog keeps it interesting. Most of Oblivion's quests were, in pen and paper form, fed-ex and "go to X and kill Y" quests, but you would never notice it because the actors added entertainment, meaning, and life to it. That's what I consider to be one of the most intriguing aspects of AoC.

Eh, dunno if you'll like WAR if you don't like AoC. But I think WAR is focusing on being a bit more social, so wait and see.

@Zhar: Interesting how the conversations remind you just of MotB. Have you tried KotOR or Jade Empire?

GW was my first online game. I played many after/inbetween, but adjusting was hard.

I'll get use to it, just takes time.

~1 hour by disc.

Guys who wanted buddy keys - You have to wait. They're not releasing keys until the official launch is over.

Edit - allow 30mins-1 hour for patching

Severs are filling up quick, so pick quickly. I just had to queue just to get onto Wildsoul. Luckily I've created 2 alts on that server already. Might roll a few on desolated PvE servers, just incase the wait is stupid.

Same here, sort of (played online FPS for a bit). I bought AoC yesterday and am so far quite liking it. It's soooo different from Guild Wars, though. This whole open-world thing is very strange. I see other people O.o....

There's some things about Guild Wars that I took for granted, now that I'm starting to play another game...

Interface customization - being able to move everything on your screen is hawt. AoC allows a wee bit of customization when it comes to selecting features that you want on/off your screen, but that's about it. Guild Wars seems pretty revolutionary when it comes to extremely customizable interfaces, though - because other games I've played don't really allow for that.

Key Customization - wahhhhhhh my strafing keys HAVE to be Z/C, they can't be Q/E. If there's a way to change them, AoC is blocking me from doing it, or I'm really stupid. I haven't really explored this yet.

Simplicity - when I first started playing GW, a lot of stuff was simpler to learn. The system for .. everything is a lot easier to adapt to. Guild Wars doesn't utilize as many funky icons as other games, but instead replaces it with text. That saves a player from having to hover their mouse over everything. Character interaction (trading, party inviting, talking) is also more clearly laid out and accessible in Guild Wars. Auto-attacking in GW is also rather genius, and AoC doesn't have it

To give credit to the game devs, they have implemented some really unique things to help players in this game. Despite having screwed some things up after Factions, it seems like they took some of the best qualities from other games, and great suggestions for gameplayers and put it into their game. What I like about AoC is that it's still different from other MMOs. The game looks great, seems more complex than GW will ever be, and it's definitely something new for me.

Sorry that you were disappointed, Malice - especially after your campaign to promote the bloody thing. But I kinda really like it

Where do you find the registration key in the collectors edition? I had to go buy one because of stupid overstock.com. I'll post more about that later. Suffice it to say, I will never order anything from them again and will strongly urge everyone else not to either.

Play/Amazon will sell game cards, so just pick up one of those.

I rolled on Wildsoul PvP server. We can only group if you have done the same.

The reg key is on the back of the manual.

Totally unplayable for me. 5fps on low settings. I was in the 30+ range before launch on medium. I know the fact the server being full will pull the fps down, but 5fps isn't acceptable. I hate to think how the people with minimum spec PC's are doing.

If it's not one thing with this game it's another. Then couple that with the fact /claim doesn't work for me, so my £60 CE is nothing more then an over priced standard issue.

I knew this game would be a little buggy, but this is taking the piss.

Yes, actually I very much love BioWare's games, and Jade Empire is among my top favourite games that I've played.
